There are lots of wonderful things to do on the Sheep’s Head peninsula
We’ve pulled together some of our favourite activities in the area to help you make plans for your visit …
1. Walk the Sheep’s Head Way
The Sheep’s Head peninsula is famous for its walking route -the Sheep’s Head Way main walking route which traces the coastline of the peninsula and a set of loop walks suitable for everyone.
Choose from 20 loop walks across a 200km network of trails. You’ll find coastal paths, mountain trails and even an island walk among the choices on offer, and the loops around Ahakista are a particular pleasure to walk. 2. Visit Bantry House
Bantry House and Garden is a stately home overlooking Bantry Bay in the south west of Ireland. It houses an important private collection of furniture and objects of art and it has been home to the White family since 1739.
Today, visitors can explore the house and formal garden, and have tea in the lovely tearoom which is open throughout the summer. Bantry House is open from Easter each year until the end of October For more information, visit http://bantryhouse.com
3. Cycle the Sheep’s Head Way
The Sheep’s Head Way Cycle Route extends around the coastline of the Sheep’s Head peninsula and brings you over to Ballydehob on the Mizen.
Cycle the hairpin bends on the mountainous Goat’s Path, or take a gentler spin through the villages on the peninsula’s south sides
If you’re bringing your bike with you, we can store these for you in our bike rack during your stay. Bike hire is also available from The Old Creamery in Kilcrohane village (electric and traditional bikes are available here).
4. Enjoy Relaxing Treatments here at Gouladoo Seaview

5. Visit the Bamboo Park in Glengarriff
West Cork is dotted with lovely villages an charming gardens. Glengarriff which nestles under the Caha mountains is the perfect place to experience the kinds of planting made possible by West Cork’s mild climate.

6. Shore Fishing
The Sheep’s Head peninsula is one of the best places to enjoy shore fishing in West Cork. At Gouladoo Seaview, we’re just a few minutes’ drive from the coastline where you’ll find well marked shore fishing spots where you can while away a lovely afternoon enjoying the scenery and views over West Cork’s bays.
7. Explore the Sheep’s Head’s Craft Shops & Galleries
The beautiful scenery of the Sheep’s Head peninsula is a constant source of inspiration for the artists and craftspeople who call it home. Enjoy a day visiting Dunbeacon Pottery, the Sheep’s Head Producers’ Market and the Heron Gallery, where you can also enjoy a lovely lunch overlooking some lovely gardens, designed with an artist’s eye! 8. Visit Baltimore and Lough Hyne
Venture further afield to visit one of West Cork’s lovely seaside villages – Baltimore is a great gateway to the West Cork islands, but it’s also a lovely place to enjoy some of the excellent seafood you’ll find here. West Cork is renowned as one of Ireland’s best foodie destinations! You’ll enjoy a visit too to Lough Hyne. Book a kayak session on the lake, or climb the hill behind it to enjoy gorgeous views across West Cork’s bays.
9. Motorbiking on the Sheep’s Head
Andreas at Gouladoo Seaview is a motorbike enthusiast who’ll be delighted to share with you some of the most rewarding routes for biking on the West Cork stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way.
